Welcome Senior Class of 2011!

Mahatma, Carolina, and Riceland Rice in partnership with Univision Radio offer high school seniors in designated areas who wish to attend college the chance to win a two thousand dollar prize by writing an essay.

Our scholarship program has been in existence since 1987 when it was first offered in the New York - New Jersey Metro Area. In 1989, the program was expanded to include the Miami (Dade, Monroe and Broward County) area and again in 1996 to include the Los Angeles and Orange County area. The Chicago Metro area was added in 2000. In 2006, we added the San Francisco - San Jose Metro area.

Since its inception, this program has awarded more than $700,000 to college-bound high school seniors, earning the respect of teachers and administrators throughout the country.

In order to be considered for one of twenty two, two thousand dollar cash awards, each competitor must be a high school senior and complete an essay that answers the following question: “How do I believe my studies in college will change my life?
 
To be eligible you must reside in, and/or attend high school in the metro areas of:  New York/ New Jersey, Chicago, Miami Dade and Broward Counties, Los Angeles and Orange County, or San Francisco/San Jose.

To complete your entry form fill in your name and city, click the “Apply Now” button below and fill in your street address, telephone numbers, best time to call, school name and school address in the fields on the next page. We also request that you let us know how you heard about this program. That is all we need.  Your entry form will be ready for you to print.  We will not share, sell, or archive your information.

You can find all rules and other important information on the Rules and Eligibility page which will open when you have filled in the first two fields on the home page.  No money is required to enter this program, and we do not require transcripts of grades or letters of recommendation. The best essays win.
